Finding time to read has always been a priority in my life. In elementary school it was The Magic Tree House Series, in middle school it was Twilight, in high school it was Seventeen Magazine, college was self-help books (and still is, honestly), and now, it’s business books and parenting books. By now, you can guess that I’ve read a fair amount of books. I’d like to share my favorites life-changing books with you! And whether or not you’re a born book lover or just looking for some new insight, Clate and I have compiled our lists of books that have changed our life. Let’s jump in!
This is my absolute favorite book of all time. It’s full of actionable steps to become a better version of yourself, along with exercises to help you understand yourself, your situations, your beliefs, and your goals. Believe me, doing these exercises is what really changed my life. So if you’re looking for a passive read, this book is not it. If you’re ready to dig into your mind and your goals and create real change, then pick up this book as soon as you can.
A classic. I’ve read this book multiple times and each time, it’s as if I’m reading a new book. It contains simple, yet profound advice on how to interact with others. In a day and age where most everything is digital, I still believe that face-to-face interactions are most important. These skills are important and will benefit you in every area of your life.
This book immediantly comes to mind when I think of life-changing books. This book is great to read at any time of your life. Oftentimes the world seems very polarizing – society often tells us that you can either be successful at work or at home, but not both. Reading this book not only gave me hope that it’s possible to have success in both, but helped me define my values and create routines that would allow that to happen.
A book for the soul. I love this book because it reminded me that life is whimsical. There is magic. People are good. The world is full of all the adventure you dream about. Bob Goff, the author, is a spectacle. He lives a life most dream of, and mostly because he simply chose to. A great book that makes you feel alive again, and reminds you to be the kind of person you can be proud of.
A no-nonsense read about achieving your goals. This book helps you realize that you really can do ANYTHING. I’d say it’s more directed towards women but has principles that can apply to everyone. It also completely changed my perception of money. A life changer!
Stephen Covey outlines 7 of the most important habits all efficient people have in common. Looks at these habits through two different lenses – independence and interdependence. Not only does this book outline how to become the best version of yourself, but it also teaches you how to help others become their best selves. A great book to pair with “Atomic Habits”.
The principles taught in this book should be taught in every school all over the world. It teaches how to be financially fit and answers the question “how can my money make me more money?”
Want to know how to be financially “fit”? Read this book.
Such a classic, influential book. This book teaches you how to become a big deal with a capital “B”. Napoleon Hill walks through 13 different key principles of how to become your best self. As a psychology major, I love the influence of self-actualization found in this book. This is one of those books that should be read every year.
A great book that delivers clear, actionable steps on how to build habits in your life. Definitely recommend, especially if there are things in your life you know you should be doing but have a hard time doing them.
I love this book from a business perspective, but it has a lot of principles that can be applied in everyday life as well. It teaches the core characteristics of ideas that work and how you can utilize them to work in your favor. The book outlines a “stickiness” acronym called SUCCES that, when applied to ideas in the correct manner, make those ideas almost impossible to forget. It also takes you through some interesting case studies that, if nothing else, are really entertaining to read.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this list of life-changing books! Are there any others we missed? Comment and share some of YOUR life-changing books. We’re always looking for a great read. 😉
